Patient With Migraines Are More Prone To To Suffer From Depression

Woman suffering from chronic headache, especially migraine disorder, are more likely to suffer from depression disorder, feel fatigued, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical research published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical trial involved 1300 man who buy seroquel at headache clinics in nine countries. Of the patient surveyed, 593 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches monthly) and 343 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patient were diagnosed with migraines.

The clinical investigation found patients with chronic headache were four times more likely than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Atypical Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among patient tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical research found the likelihood of major Atypical Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms would agitate or be a manifestation of major Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax and Depression can heighten pain perception,” said medical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Psychotic Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression could be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Heedless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Manic Depression complicates headache management and can stir up poorer consequence for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The medical research was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American patient are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 15000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to ameliorating woman care through instruction and clinical investigation. A neurologist is a general practitioner with specialized training in monitoring, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as blow, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and frequent sclerosis.
